In 2006 the European Commission offered Prof. Gudowski an assignment in Moscow as the European Deputy Executive Director of the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC). ISTC is an international organisation stimulating and funding in Russia and other new post-Soviet states transformation from military to civil oriented science. Sweden was one of the founding countries of ISTC in 1994 and Prof. Gudowski was involved in this creation process in 1993-1994. In this seminar Prof. Gudowski will talk about his work with ISTC and its impressive funding programme. He will present some of the most interesting projects within the energy area and assess the potential for cooperation in the energy sector. He will further talk about the difficulty with becoming a diplomat in the very sensitive area of non-proliferation and about what life was like in Moscow in the first decade of 21 century. And last but not least – how easy/difficult was it for Prof. Gudowski to come back to KTH after five years diplomatic break! |
