Successful start for the KTH Australia Alumni Association
On Saturday March 23 alumni gathered to participate in the the first KTH alumni event in Sydney, Australia
The evening event started with a mingle at Hilton Sydney Hotel. Drinks and cocktail were served as the guests signed a guest list, collected their nametags and received KTH pins as a gift.
KTH Ambassador and alumna Johari Hussein made a short presentation about the global work of the KTH Alumni Office and about the KTH Alumni Community. One of the major tasks is to increase the number of reachable members in the KTH Alumni Community. The work is ongoing and it has been proved useful to reach alumni through various communication channels. Johari emphasised members to spread the word to fellow KTH alumni and she stressed the importance of updating contact details. Johari also informed that most alumni activities organized by KTH or by alumni volunteers can be followed both on the KTH alumni page as well as on the dedicated KTH Alumni LinkedIn page.
All attending alumni were happy and agreed to get involved more and contribute to the growth of the KTH Australia Alumni Association. Some of the alumni had not been in contact with KTH since graduation.
Over the dinner all guests introduced themselves and shared background information. It was fascinating to know the variety of nationalities, that most took different courses at KTH and graduated in different years. The guests also talked about how one ended up in Australia, career paths, cultures and life in general.
Everyone was impressed by KTH´s effort of bringing together alumni and helping Alumni Chapters and Associations grow. All agreed to set up an active chapter and to actively work on recruit more KTH alumni living in Australia and New Zealand.
4 of the guests volunteered to help organize future events and all attendees are looking forward to meet again at a coming future alumni event in Australia.
