Forskningsområden
Research at EE is conducted within many areas. Here you can read more about each lab's research topics.
Elektriska energisystem
The main part of the research aims at developing methods and models to be used in analysis, planning, and operation of electric power systems. Most of the work is carried out in interaction with industry or is inspired by problems and phenomena occurring in real systems.
Elektrisk energiomvandling
The main research activities of the Electrical Machines and Power Electronics lab cover the following areas: Electrical machines, power electronics and their control, electric traction as well as electrical drives.
Elektroteknisk teori and konstruktion
The main part of the research aims at developing methods and models for the design and application of electrical components and installations.
Fusionsplasmafysik
The objective of our research is to develop the technology for fusion energy. Fusion holds the potential for providing a new safe, sustainable, environmentally responsible and economically viable energy source. For controlled fusion to be achieved, the fuel is confined in the form of a high temperature plasma.
Industriella informations- och styrsystem
Our profile focuses upon understanding and developing theories and methods in order to make contributions to the development of cost-effective information and control systems for industrial equipment, processes, and systems, e.g., within the power, process, telecommunication, and manufacturing industries.
Kommunikationsnät
We conduct research on most aspects of networking, in particular network and service management, router architectures, wireless networks, traffic control and quality of service. We are seeking designs for low complexity, good scalability, ease of analysis and conceptual simplicity. Our research is based on a blend of analysis, simulation and experimentation. We have a extensive research laboratory with state-of-the-art equipment.
Kommunikationsteori
The general interest of the group is in the intersection between communication and information theory, source and channel coding, and signal processing. Most of our research is of a fundamental/theoretical nature, however it is well motivated by relevant applications, especially in wireless communications but also in communications for control, multimedia and networking.
Ljud- och bildbehandling
Research at the Sound and Image Processing Lab is mostly aimed towards improved algorithms for speech and audio coding, speech synthesis, and speech enhancement for various applications, including hearing technology for people with auditory impairment.
Mikrosystemteknik
Our research is mainly centered around Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) and its applications, with a focus on silicon-based applied sensor and actuator technology. Our research staff has developed a significant number of devices with promising performance.
Reglerteknik
The research projects of the Automatic Control Group are focused on modeling, identification and control of industrial systems as well as applications in systems biology, communication and autonomous systems.
Rymd- och plasmafysik
The main theme of the research activity is fundamental properties of matter in the plasma state, such as ability to carry electric current, to support electric fields, and to rapidly release magnetically stored energy. The laboratory activities deal with double layers and dusty plasmas whereas space experiments aim to further understand the aurora, space weather, solar wind - magnetosphere - ionosphere interaction, and the plasma environments of other planets.
Signalbehandling
We conduct research within several areas, including Adaptive Antennas in Wideband Wireless, Wireless Services, Audio-Visual Mobile Internetworking and Digital Communication.
