Laboratory Facilities

Examples of available laboratory facilities at the Electromagnetic Engineering Division:

  • a high-voltage laboratory including a multitest set for 2x200 kV DC, 2x100 kV AC and 400 kV impulse
  • a laboratory for characterization of insulating materials including e.g. equipment for measurements of Dielectric Response and measurement of partial discharges (pd)
  • two screened rooms and three separate laboratory rooms
  • lab computers for instrument control, data acquisition and data processing
  • several multiprocessor computation server computers available for multiple users simultaneously, used for running long or memory-intensive calculations
  • various software, both externally and internally written, for example for dynamic simulations and field calculations, material modelling and data acquisition
  • several (groups') collections of books, manuals and conference proceedings
  • a workshop for mechanical work

M3 laboratory

The research activities comprise tools for modelling, calculation and design of magnetic, magnetomechanical and superconductive devices with related measurement techniques and applications. The educational subject is electrotechnical design.
