Industrial Information and Control Systems

Industrial Information and Control Systems joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at KTH in 1992. Our profile focuses upon understanding and developing theories and methods in order to make contributions to the development of cost-effective information and control systems for industrial equipment, processes, and systems, e.g., within the power, process, telecommunication, and manufacturing industries.

Our discipline has an academic as well as an industrial system-oriented approach with an objective to achieve an overall overview, understanding, and insight into the needs and technical solutions available when computerized control systems are to be introduced and applied in industrial operations. We cover all subsystems, from sensors, data acquisition, local systems, data communication, control centers, man-machine interfaces, operators, on a system oriented basis.

One of our main interests is to develop methods and models to be able to write efficient specifications in all phases of a control system's life cycle.
