KTH continues to perform very well in the QS subject rankings. In the just-released QS World University Rankings by Subject 2015, KTH ranks among the world's 50 top universities in five out of 13 subjects.

The 2015 result marks an improvement over last year, when KTH had four subjects rated among the top 50. In five other subjects, KTH ranks in the range of 51-100.

In addition, four subjects improved their rankings.

Per-Anders Östling, KTH ranking expert, says: "This is a very strong result, and it reflects a continued positive trend. Moreover, we should be very close to the top 50 in Chemical Engineering and Mathematics."

KTH President Peter Gudmundson says he is very pleased with the results and the continuing positive development.

"This is proof that our work and our investments in research and training are paying off," he says.

"It further strengthens the image of KTH, as an institution of higher education that is among the top class in the global perspective. It is very satisfactory."

Alongside Electrical Engineering, KTH has progressed in Civil & Structural Engineering, Materials Science and Physics & Astronomy.

In other subjects, KTH holds nearly the same position as last year.

Per-Anders Östling

The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2015 evaluated and analyzed 3,551 universities and more than 14,000 applications. Rankings are based on various weighted indicators. For example the indicator "academic reputation" represents 40 percent of the final grade, and the "average number of citations" represents 25 percent.

That KTH continues to get better values in the indicators measuring research and educational reputation, as well as in those that measure impact and excellence in research, suggests that both KTH's reputation and research are further strengthened, Östling says.
