New India Scholarship Foundation
IN BRIEF
A private donation of SEK 5 million ($742,000) has enabled KTH to establish a new India Scholarship Foundation to finance tuition fees, housing and living expenses in Sweden for two students from India each year. The scholarships will be applied to advanced studies for one year, after which recipients meeting academic requirements will be invited to apply for funding for a second year at KTH. Interest in the scholarship programme has been robust, and the 2012 Fellows have now been appointed.
“We at KTH are very grateful for this new scholarship, which is especially important in light of the introduction of tuition fees [in September 2011] for students from outside the EU,” says Eva Malmström Jonsson, Vice President of KTH. “And it’s particularly gratifying to be able to offer scholarships to Indian students because the administration has identified India as one of our priority regions for establishing long-term relationships in both research and education.”
