Configuration and morphology of recycled polymers
Researchers:
Ph.D. student Francisco Vilaplana
Project Description:
The project aims at investigating the cause of configurational and morphological changes in recycled polymers. The recycled polymers are materials common in packaging and electronic waste, primarily PE, PP, PET, PS, ABS, HIPS. Model studies will relate the observed changes to degradation mechanisms and/or possibility of influence of source of polymer. Important will be relating degradation to observed changes in order to propose a method for determining remaining lifetime. Results obtained after thermal analysis and chromatography are compared.
