Research web run by the Swedish Research Council
The Swedish Research Council has been commissioned by the government to run the website Sweden ScienceNet. This will be done in consultation with ten Swedish universities, including the KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
KTH, along with nine other Swedish universities, stands behind the initiative Sweden ScienceNet - a website with information on current Swedish research in research areas.
Information on approved research projects is taken directly from research funders' data systems. Currently The Swedish Research Council (VR), The Swedish Council for Working Life and Social Research (FAS), The Swedish Research Council Formas (Formas), Vinnova, Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research and Riksbankens jubileumsfond participate and more funders are joining. Sweden ScienceNet consolidates its role as a key source for professional research information. The Swedish Research Council is responsible for managing and developing the system, in consultation with the universities.
Collaboration between universities
For their cooperation in Sweden ScienceNet, the universities have a management team with Björn O. Nilsson, CEO of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, as chairman. He is pleased that the research database that has been built will now be managed by an authority with national responsibility for research information. Starting a year ago, Uppsala University coordinates the practical work on behalf of the universities.
Thousands of projects and researchers
At current, the database behind the website includes close to 7000 research projects, which in turn include more than 6000 scientists. The amount of projects and researchers will increase over time since the database is gradually supplemented by research projects funded by other foundations and agencies.
The system's users are primarily found in universities and university colleges but industry and various public institutions also have access to qualified research information via Sweden ScienceNet.
KTH research project database
Sweden ScienceNet should be seen as a complement to the KTH research project database. The KTH research project database contains ongoing research projects at KTH. In the KTH research project database you can search for projects, individual researchers or research areas. The database is updated regularly by the researchers themselves.
