About Communication Theory
What is the background to Communication Theory and what do we do?
The chair in Communication Theory at the Royal Institute of Technology was founded in 2003, as a direct successor to the previous chair in Teletransmission Theory. The Communication Theory Lab conducts research and education in the general area of digital communications. Our undergraduate education is presented in collaboration with the Signal Processing Lab. Fourteen undergraduate courses are given every year, most of them during the final two years, and approximately 30 master theses are completed annually. At the graduate (PhD) level, we offer courses in theoretical aspects of digital communications. The Lab’s research focuses on information and communication theory, with emphasis on wireless systems.
