To build on existing research excellence and strength, KTH has defined five distinct research focus areas: Transport, Energy & Climate, Materials, Information and Communication Technology, and Life Science.

KTH has a very broad and deep research profile in ICT, with world leading research in a range of areas as diverse as Computer Science, Sensor Technology, Signal Processing, Communication Networks, Software Development, Automatic Control, Distributed Systems, Modelling and Simulation, Components, Mechanics, and Interaction Design. The ICT platform connects researchers from five of the schools at KTH, situated at the campuses in central Stockholm and in Kista. Together we constiute a dynamical research community with extensive industrial collaboration, four Engineering programs, and a large number of Master's programs.
