About iTRUE
iTRUE offers the chance to undergraduates to work on ongoing cutting edge research projects and interact with the KTH researchers involved. iTRUE participants are involved in each phase of a standard research activity: developing research plans, writing proposals, conducting research, collecting and analyzing data, and presenting research results in oral and written form.
Research opportunities for undergraduates in all fields can be a valuable component of their educational experience. The objective of the initiative is to launch a pilot program at KTH centered around transport research and education, leveraging some of the resources available through TRENoP and the Transport Platform. The program aims at exposing undergraduates at KTH to transport related research at KTH under the umbrella of a formally organized program. The research will be conducted under existing projects, thus also providing benefit to these projects with added work (without cost to the project, at least initially).
iTRUE projects take place during the academic year and research can be done in any academic department or interdisciplinary laboratory or center carrying out transport research. iTRUE students receive a stipend for their participation. The funding for the stipends, at least at the early phases of the program, are provided by TRENoP and the Transport Platform.
The iTRUE experience will better prepare students for careers in science and technology and provide a better opportunity for them to study the complex social issues related to transport. It can also provide the opportunities to students to better explore future career paths in research and motivate them to pursue PhD studies.
The main elements of the program are:
- Researchers submit short project descriptions that the interested undergraduate students can apply for.
- Students can apply for different projects and pursue the topic during one semester (or longer).
- An iTRUE day will be organized annually, where students will present their research. The workshop will be open to the entire transport community and announced broadly to KTH and various companies and organizations.
