New Record for Efficient KTH Car

At the Shell Eco Marathon in Rotterdam last week, 40 students from three KTH schools competed in a test of ultra-efficient vehicles.
In a competition involving 220 teams from 24 nations, KTH's submitted entries in the “Prototype” and “Urban Concept” classes. The prototype car Sleipner set a new record for hydrogen-powered Swedish cars in the race, covering 135 kilometres per kWh, or the equivalent of about 1200 km/litre for a petrol-powered engine.
Meanwhile, Spiros, the KTH entry in the Urban Concept class, fell just outside the time limit of 39 minutes — missing by only 50 seconds — but posted a very respectable result of 110 kilometres on a litre of petrol.
