Embedded Control Systems Research Group

Welcome to the homepage of the Embedded Control Systems Group! Below is an introduction to our research area.

The machine industry today is facing an increasing amount of software implemented functionality. The backbone of mechatronic machines is formed by embedded distributed control systems. The programmability of electronic systems has a dramatic potential for improving current functionality and for introducing completely new functionality.

This creates a strong need for multidisciplinary research and development. Key challenges in the development of future mechatronics machines include mastering their complexity, providing the required dependability and enabling cost-efficient implementations.

The research is carried out in close cooperation with other international research teams and industry. ICES (the KTH Innovative Centre for Embedded Systems) provides a new platform for collaborative efforts in research and education.

The Division of Mechatronics is part of the Department of Machine Design within the School of Industrial Engineering and Management, at the Royal Institute of Technology - KTH.

We often have MSc thesis project opportunities, contact us if you are interested! Likewise, you are most welcome to contact us if you are interested in education, research and technology in this area.
