RAE 2012 – Research Assessment Exercise
In 2008 KTH undertook an international review of its research base, to ensure that KTH research remains competitive internationally, and that future research strategies maintain a global perspective. In June 2012 this review will be repeated, under the direction of Björn Birgisson, KTH Vice President for Research.

The basis for the bibliometric part of RAE 2012 will be the KTH publication database DiVA. It is important that all publications (within the selected document types) published during 2004-2011 by the researchers included in RAE 2012 are correctly registered in DiVA. Publications that are to be part of RAE 2012 must be registered by February 14.
At present a large number of new records are being registered in DiVA. Not only does this benefit RAE 2012, but it also contributes to making DiVA a more complete publication database.
Two bibliometric measures will be used on the publications included in RAE 2012:
Citation analysis
Journal articles which are registered in DiVA and also included in the database Web of Science for the years 2004-2010 will be included in the citation analysis.
Analysis of publication frequencies
The following document types published 2004-2011 should be registered in DiVA.
- Journal article: peer review
- Journal article: without peer review
- Review article
- Book
- Chapter in book
- Conference paper
- Doctoral thesis
- Licentiate thesis
- Report
- Editorial work
- Patent (approved patents only)
Important to keep in mind when registering publications in DiVA
- Avoid duplicate records: Always check that the publication is not already registered in DiVA before you register a new record (search title words, exclude words containing special characters). You save work and we avoid duplicates in DiVA.
- KTH-ID: Every KTH author must be registered with KTH-ID as ”Username” in DiVA. KTH-ID can be found in the personnel database (see description in the manuals).
- KTH-organization: Lowest possible organizational level (department/division/group) must be specified for each KTH-author if the publication was written in his or her capacity as KTH employee, i.e. if KTH is given as affiliation. The organization should reflect the author’s affiliation when the publication was produced.
- Other university: Publications written by an author currently employed at KTH, when affiliated to another university should be registered with the affiliation stated in the publication (not KTH) as organization in DiVA.
