Main Library Collections
Are you interested in the various collections located at KTHB Main Library? Here you will find short descriptions of the library´s book, journal and report collections.
Books
Since the start in 1825 KTHB Library has acquired books and journals through purchasing, gifts and trades. The book collection is arranged in three suites, except for the special collections.
The first suite, also known as the Old book collection, contains acquisitions from 1825 to 1960.
The second suite contains 1961-2001. This collection is available for the public and is located in Bokhallen and the Open stacks downstairs.
The latest suite began with the move to the new library building at Osquars backe 31 and contains books from 2002 and onwards.
Journals
KTHB Library’s collections of journals are extensive: today they contain about 10 kilometers. The main part of the journals are scientific, but there are also journals published by different trade associations.
Many journals are available in long suites, often unbroken since the start.
Today the journals are located in external stacks until 2004, with a few exceptions. Printed journals from 2005 and onwards are lined up in their respective disciplines in the Main Library.

This is material that is included in a publication series.
Monograph and report series are lined up in their respective disciplines.
These publications are generally for loan.
Special Collections
In our special collections you will find material you won't find in many other libraries.
The Byggdok Collection
The Byggdok Collection consists of literature within the subject areas of real estate, building and environment. There is also relevant information on planning, administration, building production, draining and water supply and waste disposal.
The Byggdok Collection is available downstairs at the Main Library.
The Aero Collection
The Aero Collection contains books within the subject areas of aeronautics, aerodynamics, space technology and fluid mechanics, and also includes around 20,000 technical reports (NACA, AGARD etc).
The collection is available in Norra galleriet.
KTH Collection
The KTH Collection contains all material that has been published by KTH and received by the library until 2010. From 2011 onwards the library will not acquire printed student theses.
The collection is available in Ångdomen.
The Technical Report Collection
The Technical Report Collection consists of approximately 100,000 reports and research findings within the subject area of energy and energy related environmental engineering, with special emphasis on nuclear energy.
The Collection of International Congress Publications
The collection contains publications from congresses from all over the world. This collection ended in the mid 1990's.
The Energy and Nuclear Technology Collection
The collection mainly consists of books within the subject areas of energy and energy related environmental engineering. The area of nuclear energy from 1950 and onwards is very well covered.
The collection is available downstairs.
The Collection for International Development Cooperation - CIDC
The collection consists of literature on international development cooperation within the subject areas of environment, land and water resources, planning, building and energy in a sustainable perspective.
History of Science and Technology, The Research library
The Research Library contains books on technology and science seen from a social and historical perspective. In combination with the Old Book Collection we offer a unique opportunity to study the development of science and technology in Sweden.
The Old Book Collection
The Old Book Collection is a unique document on Swedish development from the industrial revolution to the peak of industrialization. The collection covers a wide range of subjects, from science to technology, from economics to art, from architecture to agriculture. The collection can only be visited after agreement. Associated with the Old Book Collection is also an archive with letter collections and manuscripts.
