Disabilities
Are you a KTH student in need of facilities to carry out your studies? Learn how KTHB may help with resource rooms, talking books and more.
Turn to KTHB for:
- Text books in alternative formats as talking books, e-text, Braille and enlargements.
- New production of course literature which is not available in alternative formats.
- Adapted resource room with readings aids, for example speech synthesizier and dictation software. Available at the Main Library, Forum Library and Haninge Library.
- Copying and scanning from KTHB's collections.
Talking books
If you need talking books in your studies - download them yourself from TPB (Tal- och punktskriftsbiblioteket). First, turn to the KTH coordinator for students with disabilities. Then come to us to register for a download account and to learn how to download talking books.
E-books
E-books and e-journals can be read aloud by a speech synthesizer. If you do not have access to one, you can use it in one of KTHB´s resource rooms.

Resource Rooms
In need of reading aids in your studies? KTHB Main Library, Forum Library and Haninge Library have adapted study rooms. They can be used by anyone who has received a certificate from the KTH coordinator for students with disabilities. These rooms are available when the libraries are open, they can be booked in advance.
The resource rooms have the following facilities:
Zoom Text – screen magnification software
Babylon-Pro DT Infovoox Erik – speech synthesizer
OmniPage OCR – text input software
Spell Rex – spelling, Swedish
Spell Right – spelling, English
Book Resource Room Vitruvius at KTHB Main Library
Collect the key to the room at the reception.
Book Resource Room Babbage at KTHB Forum Library
Located on the 6th floor. Passes can be borrowed at the library.
Book Resource Room Agnes Magnell at KTHB Haninge Library
Located on the 4th floor. Collect the key to the room at the library.
