AIMday® Patient Safety 2012, May 30

Welcome to AIMday® Patient Safety 2012 - a unique opportunity to make contacts and exchange knowledge in the area of Patient Safety.

Medical mishaps have been identified as a factor contributing to avalanching healthcare costs and a cause of significant suffering for patients. A study from the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) shows 3 000 deaths and 630 000 extra care days each year related to lack of patient safety. 2011, a new patient safety law was adopted in Sweden. The aim of the law is to make health care safer and to make it easier for patients to report maltreatment. Patient safety issues have been attributed to human factors, medical complexity, system failures and unsolved clinical challenges.

AIMday® Patient Safety is an event focusing upon the needs of companies and care providers and aims to link these needs to competence and knowledge from within the universities. The main part of the day is centered on workshops wherein a question or issue raised by a company or a care provider is highlighted and discussed by scientists and experts from several research disciplines. Here, company or care provider representatives and academic researchers get a chance to meet in small groups to discuss specific issues, formulated by the companies or care givers.

Bringing academy and companies closer

AIMday® Patient Safety will bring together academic researchers from a wide variety of scientific fields to discuss questions and topics raised by company or care giver representatives. We invite you to use this unique opportunity to meet across borders and make valuable contacts that can lead to an increased exchange of knowledge between academia, industry and the healthcare organisations, and where the seeds of successful collaborations can be planted.
