Doctoral studies for Doctor of Philosophy and Licentiate of Engineering degrees

At KTH research postgraduate studies is organized in doctoral programmes. As a PhD student at KTH you will, through your programme, gain access to a range of suitable courses. In addition, the programme gives you a natural platform for collaboration with other graduate students in the same field and an opportunity to make valuable contacts for your future career.

As a PhD student, you are admitted to a specific subject at postgraduate level as well as to a doctoral programme. The study plan for the subject determines what requirements you must fulfil to graduate. The study plan will also contain information on how your education should be organized, what courses you should take, your tutorial and what other commitments you and your supervisor should fulfil.

Doctoral studies at KTH is managed by the different schools at KTH. If you have questions regarding enrolment, eligibility or programmes and subjects please direct these to the appropriate school. All available PhD positions are advertised five times a year.  Available PhD positions can be found under Vacancies.

As a PhD student at KTH you will also have the opportunity to attend courses at graduate level in any of the other universities in the region. Courses at Karolinska Institutet can be found here and courses at Stockholm University here.
