KTH, founded in 1827, accounts for one-third of Sweden’s technical research and engineering education capacity at university level. Education and research cover a broad spectrum – from natural sciences to all the branches of engineering as well as architecture, industrial engineering and management, urban planning, work science and environmental engineering. In addition to the research carried out by KTH’s Schools, a large number of both national and local Competence Centres are located at KTH.

The main campus has been located in attractive, and now listed, buildings in central Stockholm since 1917.

Aalto University 

Established in 2010, Aalto University is a new university with centuries of experience. Aalto University is created from the merger of three Finnish universities: The Helsinki School of Economics, Helsinki University of Technology (TKK) and The University of Art and Design Helsinki.

Aalto University is the oldest university of technology in Finland and a pioneer in the field of technology in the country with 15 000 students studying at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels. Aalto University is an international university: 19 Master's programmes are taught in English and it is also a partner in five Erasmus Mundus Master programmes, and various international dual degree programmes, as well. More than 200 students are admitted annually to Master's programmes and more than 300 exchange students come to study at the Otaniemi campus every year. As a research-oriented university Aalto University is involved in nine national Centres of Excellence in Research nominated by the Academy of Finland. Along with motivated students and high-quality personnel, active cooperation with industry is one of the key success factors of the Aalto University.

Politecnico di Torino (PoliTo)

Polito

Politecnico di Torino (POLITO), established in 1859, has 27.000 students studying on 124 courses of Engineering and Architecture at the Bachelor, Master, Ph.D. and specialization levels according to the Bologna process. Staff is composed by over 900 lecturers and researchers, and around 850 employees. There are 4 Schools of Engineering, 2 Schools of Architecture, 1 Graduate School, 18 Departments and 7 Interdepartmental Centers. At the graduate level, POLITO offers 34 Master of Science courses and 23 Ph.D. courses, many of which in the English language. Altogether, 3000 international students are enrolled at the different levels, thanks to a body of 300 agreements and 90 double degree agreements with foreign Universities all over the world.

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e)

TU/e

The Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is a relatively young university. It was founded some 50 years ago and is situated in the southern part of The Netherlands in the city of Eindhoven, well known as the hometown of Philips. In the past decade, the city of Eindhoven and its region have developed into a major centre for advanced technology. Numerous small and medium size enterprises have been established in the greater Eindhoven region in the area of electronics, materials engineering and communication technology. Recognized high quality of research is evidenced by the establishment of top technological institutes and top scientific research school is selected areas with a strong international profile. A recent ranking, set up by the Leiden Center for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS), shows that TU/e number 1 is of the 350 best performing research universities worldwide in creating comparatively the biggest scientific output in cooperation with the industry. In an Alternative Energy Research Leadership Study by Elsevier in 2009 TU/e is ranked as the second best European university. Worldwide TU/e is on place sixteen.

UPC - Barcelona Tech

UPC

Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) is a public institution dedicated to higher education and research in the fields of architecture, science and engineering. UPC offers high quality technical courses that are responsive to the training needs and requirements of traditional, evolving and newly-developing production sectors within the scope of the European Higher Education and Research Areas. UPC offers 61 graduate and undergraduate official degrees, 56 master programmes (including 7 Erasmus Mundus masters and 13 additional international masters taught in English) and 47 doctorate programmes. UPC offers masters that are approved by the Spanish government in accordance with the directives issued by the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and masters approved by the university itself. UPC has 29500 undergraduate students, ca. 1300 master’s degree students, ca. 3000 doctorate students and 5000 students in continuing education programs. We have 4,100 students in internships, and 2,200 in/from international exchange programmes.

AGH – University of Science and Technology

AGH – University of Science and Technology in Krakow was established in 1919 as the Academy of Mining, and since that time has expanded its scope following needs emerging from industry and society development. Presently AGH has sixteen faculties, covering all fields related to mining and metallurgy, including social sciences. The AGH is recognized as the second among Polish technical universities.

The Faculty of Energy and Fuels has two major disciplines of education: energy and chemical technology. The teaching in the energy field is covered by the specialisations of  heating and air conditioning, control of energy systems, hydrogen energy, nuclear power, energy machines, and sustainable energy development. Within the chemical technology the second level education  fields covered are environment protection, fuels technologies, gasification and degasification of solid fuels, clean coal technologies and sustainable fuels economy. The two latter are taught in English.

The profile of Sustainable Fuels Economy was formed to respond to growing requirements on graduates, as they have to possess a wide scope of knowledge and abilities, from technical, through economic to environmental. Given the wide scope of research the Faculty professors and their experiences ,students are prepared for undertaking jobs and taking on responsibilities in the creation of a sustainable future.
