As part of its strategic policy, IST is actively involved in several networks and international programmes to promote students mobility, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as partnerships for participating in cooperation research and training activities. IST has established strong links, which are evident in 18 agreements for joint/double diplomas at master and Ph.D levels. IST is involved in MIT-Portugal Program, which awards “in-collaboration” master and Ph.D degrees in 6 scientific areas. In 2008/2009 65 students were awarded with trining actions within the programme.

Several master dual degrees are well established between IST and the Cluster partners. A major result of cooperation within CLUSTER is a set of common policy statements, in particular the convention on mutual recognition of titles stating that students from other CLUSTER institutions will be admitted like local students to master and PhD programmes.
