How do I apply?
The application for Master’s programmes at KTH is web based and done via www.universityadmissions.se

How many programmes can I apply for?
You can apply for up to 4 programmes at Master's level via www.universityadmissions.se and you must rank them in order of preference.
Is it possible to change the order of preference of the programmes I have applied to?
You will only be able to make changes to your application up to the application deadline.

Only documents that cannot easily be scanned, such as a portfolio or documents with many pages (i.e. thesis projects and long essays), should be sent directly to the university if this is stated in the programme description. If you have further concerns about the specific admisson requirements please contact the programme coordinator.
When is the deadline for receipt of supporting academic documents?
Deadline for receipt of supporting academic documents is 1 February 2013 which means that your documents must have reached University Admissions in Sweden (address given on the cover sheet) by that date.
What happens if my documents reach University Admissions after 1 February?
If you submit documents after the deadline it will result in your application being classed as a late application. Please note that late applications are processed subject to time, availability and resources.
How will I know when my documents have been received by University Admissions in Sweden?
After you have submitted your application for a Master's programme, you will be notified by email by www.universityadmissions.se(not KTH) when your documents have been scanned and matched with your application.
I have a query regarding the programme specific requirements. Can you help me?
Please contact the programme coordinator(s) with queries regarding the programme specific entry requirements.
It says on www.universityadmissions.se that I need to submit proof that I meet the programme specific requirements but where can I find these?
If the programme requires any documents/specific competences beyond the core then this will be included in the programme description.
What are your English language requirements?
KTH has a strict policy regarding its English language requirements and it is important that you fulfill these in order for your application to be processed.
Can I send a copy of my TOEFL results?
No, all TOEFL tests must be sent straight from Educational Testing Service (ETS) and reach University Admissions in Sweden by the deadline for submitting documents. The institution code is Sweden 9520.
Can I send a copy of my IELTS results?
Yes, you should send a copy of your IELTS test results to University Admissions in Sweden. They will then verify your results online.
What is a course syllabus?
A course syllabus is a descriptive summary of the courses you have taken in your Bachelors degree.
Does the copy of my passport, letter of recommendation, letter of intent, CV and proof of work experience have to be certified?
If you are from an EU/EEA country or Switzerland and are required to document your citizenship status in order to be considered exempt from paying application and tuition fees, your passport copy must be certified.
If you are not a citizen of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland, certification of your passport copy is not required.
Letter of motivation etc. does not have to be certified.
Can I email you a copy of my transcripts etc. for you to look at before I apply?
KTH does not assess any documents before a full application has been submitted and the selection process has started. All documents should be sent to University Admissions, neither KTH nor University Admissions in Sweden accept documents by email or fax.
Do I need to send in more than one set of documents if I’m applying for more than one programme?
You only need to submit one copy of each document as your documents will be scanned and put into a database which representatives from all Swedish universities will have access to.
As for Letters of Motivation etc, if the programmes require specific information you need to write a specific text for each programme you are applying for. Please state on each document which programme they refer to. Please only submit the documentation required.

Can I still apply even though my University is not listed in the International Handbook of Universities?
Each application will be assessed upon its own individual merit and we use several different sources to establish whether a Higher Education Institution is accredited.
Can I apply even if I haven’t completed my Bachelors degree?
Students in their final year of undergraduate education may also apply to KTH and if qualified, receive a conditional acceptance. If you have not completed your studies, please include a written statement from the degree administration office (or equivalent department), giving your expected completion date.
This applies to both Swedish and international applicants.
I have previously applied via studera.nu or universityadmissions.se so do I need to send all the documents again?
If you have previously applied for a Master's programme here at KTH via studera.nu or universityadmissions.se and you sent a complete set of supporting documents you only need to submit new documents that are relevant for the Masters' programmes you are applying for now. Please check the programme description carefully. All new documents must be accompanied by a cover sheet. When logging on, you must use the same user account as you did when you previously applied via studera.nu or universityadmissions.se.
Please note that if you had not completed your undergraduate degree or if you were given a conditional acceptance in the last application round and you did not submit a diploma/degree certificate and a full set of transcripts then you must submit these documents following the instructions for submitting documentation. This must be done even if you submitted copies to the programme coordinator or showed your documents to the Admissions Office upon arrival.
Fees and scholarships
How much is the application fee?
Applicants from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland are required to pay an application fee of 900 SEK.

How much is the tuition fee for studying a Master’s programme at KTH 2013/2014?
- 245 000 SEK per academic year (60 ECTS) for Master’s programmes and courses within the subject area of Architecture
- 145 000 SEK per academic year (60 ECTS) for all other Master’s programmes and courses at KTH
Who is required to pay tuition fees?
All citizens of countries from outside the European Union and the European Economic Area who study at a Swedish higher education institution, and who do not have any other kind of residence permit in Sweden other than a residence permit for studies, will need to pay tuition fees. Formal exchange students and doctoral students will be exempted from tuition fees, as well as the application fee.
How do I pay the tuition fee?
The invoice for the first semester is sent, by email, by KTH after the second notification of selection results have been published.
The tuition fee for the first semester 2013 must be received by KTH no later than 31 May, 2013. Please note that if you intend to study more than full-time (60 credits/academic year) your tuition fee increases. The tuition fee is based on price per credit.

Where can I find information about Tuition Fee Waiver?
Who is eligible to apply for the Tuition Fee Waiver and the Scholarship from the Foundation of Engineer Ernst Johnson?
Citizens from non-EU/EEA/EFTA countries who are required to pay tuition fees and who has applied for a Master's programme at KTH as first priority are eligible to apply.
Please note that students from the following 12 countries are not eligible to apply for the KTH tuition fee waiver: Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. If you are a citizen of one these countries we advise you to apply for the Swedish Institute Study Scholarship.
Please note these scholarships are not available for applicants to Erasmus-Mundus and EIT Master's programmes.
How do I apply for a scholarship?

My date of birth/social security number is wrong on www.universityadmissions.se. How do I change it?
Your date of birth/social security number will only be changed if you are accepted. Once/if you have been accepted please contact the KTH Admissions Office to arrange this. No data will be corrected if your application is deleted or unsuccessful.
I have been accepted to a Master’s programme but I am unable to take up the place. Can I defer?
No, it´s not possible to defer an offer of admission from one year to another. The application is only valid for the programme and semester applied for.
What does ‘reserve’ mean on my Notification of Selection results?
It means that you have been placed on a waiting list and you will be contacted by the programme directly in the event that you are offered a place.
Does KTH offer any programmes at Bachelor's level in English?
No, all of our programmes at Bachelor's level are taught in Swedish.
