Our hands-on approach to teaching and learning ensures that our class projects consist of activities that will provide students with job related skills. Our close links with industry, local professional bodies and a strong alumni network allow us to stay abreast of current developments in the business and integrate this into our programmes. Furthermore, national and international guest speakers from both universities and industry will provide additional perspectives on some of the issues that are discussed during the courses.

Programme outline

The curriculum of the programme covers four terms of full-time studies, including a Degree project during the last term. The following are the various tracks in the programme: Architectural Design and Construction Project Management, Financial Services, Real Estate Development and Land Law and also Real Estate Management. One of the tracks, Real Estate Development and Land Law, is partly taught in Swedish.

The first term consists of the foundation courses for the respective tracks. The second term is made up of conditionally elective courses depending on the track. These courses will build on the foundation courses. The first term of the second year will be devoted to research and leadership training. In the final term, students will write a compulsory Master’s thesis.

Degree project

The student will carry out an in-depth study on a subject area within the scope of the programme. This gives the opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired from the courses in a scientific manner to a problem chosen within the research profile of the track. The Degree project may be carried out at a company in Sweden or abroad. Students may also work independently in an area of their own choice, as long as it falls within the research profile of the track. The Degree project will be presented in a seminar.

Career prospects

Given the borderless nature of the subjects covered in the programme, graduates are trained for careers in the real estate, financial services, government and construction management sectors nationally and internationally. Career options for graduates cover various areas within the fields of valuation, real estate taxation, real estate management, property/facilities management and development, construction and project management, planning-, building- and environmental law, real estate law, and land administration.

Graduates can expect to work in organisations such as:

  • Advisory firms, banks, pension funds, insurance companies

  • Infrastructural development organisations
  • Land registration and cadastral agencies and other related regulatory bodies

The programme also prepares students for PhD studies.
