There are also a number of former students that have embarked upon a career within consulting in firms such as McKinsey and Accenture. The alumni function provides graduates with an opportunity to keep track of their former classmates and build an extensive network.

Programme outline

Media management focuses on the development and commercial operation of media products and services aimed at a consumer market, and the programme therefore offers courses giving relevant knowledge regarding technology, content, production, distribution, market understanding and enterprise management in the media industry and related areas.

The programme is structured in two main areas one with technical courses in media production. In these courses main areas such as video, printing, web and interactive media are dealt with. The other area is focusing on media management with one main course given by the Stockholm School of Economics. This course is given in close relation with media industry with both guest lecturers and project work.

The programme is multidisciplinary, combining media technology and computer science with economics, management and business development. It is aimed at students on a bachelor’s level wishing to acquire the knowledge and skills to manage and develop enterprises in the media industry or enterprises using media communication in their business activities. It will also give a background for PhD studies in this field.

Degree project

The final semester is devoted to the Degree Project, which is focused on the solving, using scientific methodology, of a problem within the scope of the programme. The project may originate from an industrial problem or be suggested by one of the research groups at the involved departments. The results are presented in a report – the Degree project – and in a formal thesis defense seminar.
