Information to students

Participating in iTRUE gives students the opportunity to challenge and use their creativity, imagination, and spend their time on a meaningful experience. It helps students be better prepared for careers in science and technology, and get a better understanding of the opportunities in a research career through the study of complex sociotechnical problems related to transport.

General guidelines

  • Students can find out read through available projects on this website under current projects.
  • An iTRUE project can commence at any time during the study semester (it may extend over two semesters) depending on when the project is announced and all the arrangements, application, registration and funding, are complete.
  • Research work will be compensated by a stipend according to standard KTH hourly rates.
  • Each iTRUE project cannot exceed 100 hours for which the student will be compensated for.  Further work can be added but through individual arrangements between the student and the supervisor.
  • iTRUE participants and supervisors are expected to meet regularly to discuss the project.  The student is expected to receive feedback and guidance on all aspects of the research. If appropriate, students can also participate in broader project meetings with other researchers in the project and outside participants.
  • Students must be registered at KTH and in good academic standing to apply and participate in the iTRUE program.

Application

  • Students can find out about available projects under current projects.  If they are interested in a specific project they should send an e-mail to the corresponding contact person including a copy of their cv and other information as specified in the announcement.
  • Students who are selected for a project should submit a proposal for the planned work, in consultation with their supervisor to the iTRUE administrator, bibbi@infra.kth.se, within 2 weeks from being selected. The proposal should be 0.5 to 1 page long with information about the background and scope of the project and tentative schedule for completing of the project work.
  • Upon completion of the project a short report (up to 10 pages long) should be submitted to the advisor and the iTRUE administrator.
  • During the year there will be an iTRUE day during which students will present their research to the broader KTH community as well as representatives from outside companies and organizations.

  • Students should fill out the standard form for compensation (pdf 114 kB) every month with a weekly breakdown of their hours, have it signed by the supervisor as a verification of their work for that period, and submitted to the iTRUE administrator for payment processing.
