About Transport Labs
Transport Labs is a resource-center/laboratory where future sustainable transport solutions is studied through implementation-projects. Our vision is to create an environment where researchers and students meet and work together.
Initiative & Background
The initiative to start Transport Labs came from four Professors representing four schools within KTH:
Göran Lindbergh, School of Chemical Science and Engineering
Mats Leksell, School of Electrical Engineering
Dan Zenkert, School of Engineering Science
Jan Wikander, School of Industrial Engineering and Magagement
Background, KTH Eco Cars
During several years prior to the formation of Transport Labs these Professors had been collaborating in a project format having master students build concept cars for competing in Shell Eco Marathon. These projects turned out to be very fruitful in terms of education, cooperation and implementation of research results.
Part of KTH Transport Platform
Transport Labs is operated as being part of KTH Transport Platform, independent of the different divisions and schools of KTH. However, for administrative reasons, it is a separate division under the school of Industrial Technology and Management, department of Machine Design.
Steering group
The steering group for Transport Labs consist of:
Mikael Nybacka, KTH Transport Platform
Göran Lindbergh, School of Chemical Science and Engineering
Mats Leksell, School of Electrical Engineering
Dan Zenkert, School of Engineering Science
Jan Wikander, School of Industrial Engineering and Magagement
Lean project-organization
Transport Labs is a lean project-organization, having only a manager and a few staff-scientists allocated part time. The main part of the senior staffing joining the projects come from different research groups within KTH. We also have a lot of master and Ph.D. students involved.
