What is Transport Labs?
Transport Labs is a resource-center/laboratory where future sustainable transport solutions is studied through implementation-projects. Our vision is to create an environment where researchers and students meet and work together.
The Transport Labs resource-center/laboratory is a university-based ”open development arena” for realizing and demonstrating future transport solutions. To put it simple: we realize research-projects into research prototypes.
We believe in:
- Sustainable transport solutions
- the power of implementing research into real-world prototypes
- the benefits of creating a collaborative multi-disciplinary environment where students, researchers and industry meet
- creating better, and more relevant research and education by conducting prototype projects
A project-center/network at KTH
- Implementation projects within Transport Research
- Project management & Integration competence
- Facilities for continuity
- Innovation & Exposure arena
- Industry collaboration (KTH Näringsliv)
The vision…
Our vision is to create an environment where researchers and engineering students meet and work together with implementation. Industry and public are also invited. We believe that Transport Labs is the beginning of a collaborative effort towards a Transport Science Center in Stockholm.
The vision for 2017 is:
- 3-6 demo projects per year
- 20-30 PhD students involved
- 100 students/thesis workers
- 2-4 Research and Public events
- ”Hardware” demonstrators, such as: vehicles (road, rail, water, air), infrastructure, etc
- ”Soft” demonstrators, such as ICT-based solutions & services, Visualization solutions,Decision Theater, etc
Project implementation
Events…
Transport Labs will also actively organize and host events related to Sustainable Transport with a ”demo”-focus.
