Industrial Work Science (Industriell arbetsvetenskap)
The Division of Industrial Work Science (Industriell arbetsvetenskap) is a research group within the department of Industrial Economics and Management (INDEK) at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH). As field, Industrial Work Science represents that part of the Department that focuses on leadership development and the development and utilization of human resources in technology-intensive organizations.
Research at the division focuses on two main areas:
- Leadership, organization and change
- Human-machine systems
Leadership, organization and change focuses on topics such as leadership, leadership development, human resources management and organizational change. Typically these topics are studies in contexts such as Innovation, R&D or Academic organizations.
Human-machine systems addresses safety-critical and automation issues including risk management, functional allocation and automation within application areas such as air traffic control and production.
The research group is also the major supplier of leadership-related courses for many engineering programs at KTH, as well as teaches courses in research methodology. About 700 students follows yearly the courses given by the Division.
Doctorate studies is mainly done as Industrial Ph D (at companies and organizations) or in partnerships programs with other universities such as: Högskolan i Gävle, Höyskoan i Westfold (Norway), Gubkin National University of Oil and Gas (Moscow). Currently a Ph D student at EDIM will also join the Division.
