About me

From 2014, I am Professor Emeritus, and part-time employed as a senior researcher. Here is my background: After graduating as an architect, I practised doing refurbishments, and later with ”green architecture”. I was employed as a Ph.D. Student in autumn, 1995, and got my Ph.D. four years later. In January 2001, my first Ph.D. student was employed and she made her Licentiate in spring, 2003. I was appointed Associate Professor during the same year, and in 2009 as full Professor with specialization in Urban Sustainable Development. In 2006, my first two doctoral students made their Ph.D., one more came in 2009, and three in 2010-12. In all, I have supervised seven doctoral students. In parallel, I have participated in undergraduate education as a lecturer. From 2006, I did run two 15 ECT Master’s courses, the development of which I coordinated, using elements of ongoing research in the curriculuae. With the exception of the courses all activities, including my own Ph.D. education, have been fully financed via external funding that I rose; they were also based on applications I developed. Between 2007 and 2012 I was the project leader of a cross-disciplinary research project that I initiated, involving three Ph.D. students and a number of seniors including one each from ETH Zürich and the University of the West of England, and with a budget of € 1,4 million. From 2011 on, I have lead a series of research projects studying a citizen initiative in the brownfield development of city district Hammarby Sjöstad, Stockholm. The citizen initiative aims at “Renewing a new City”, and I study the case as real-time research with elements of action research. As Professor emeritus, I am part-time employed at KTH or doing consultancy. In autumn 2022 I coordinated one of my previous MSc project courses, during late 2022 and early 2023 I am a consultant to KTH Viable Cites.
