Learning outcomes

The course's overall objective is to provide students with basic knowledge in Architecture and Urban Planning. The course is intended to provide a set of tools and concepts that enable a future development within the field and its process.

After the course students will be:

-able to generate and develop ideas.

-able to compile and communicate these ideas and evaluate and analyze them.

-able to account for human needs and functional requirements that should be the basis for building design and describe the buildings and installation systems basic technical function.

- able to give an account of human needs and other conditions which should be the basis for a sustainable community and city building.

- able to describe the social planning stages and have a basic knowledge of the laws, rules and different stakeholders' behavior affects the environment.

Course main content

The course conveys a basic knowledge of architecture, Urban Planning and Building technique. This course will train students in spatial understanding and imagination, wealth of ideas, design capability and social empathy.

Disposition

The course includes the following course elements:

ÖVN1, Architecture, 3 credits. Course is directed towards function, design and representation.

ÖVN2, Building technique, 3 credits. Course focuses on the project's role, building and installation systems design and materials and to understand the basics of a drawing.

ÖVN3, Urban Planning, 3 credits. Course deals with the legislative plan, the planning is done, policy and market role and driving forces behind the development of society.

PRO1, Project, 6 credits. Course means an individual carried out project that focuses on keeping experience from the various parts into a whole. Project work includes field studies with the preparations through studies and seminars.

Grundläggande behörighet: Avslutad gymnasieutbildning eller motsvarande, inkl. svenska och engelska.

Requirements for final grade

To obtain final grade, the requirements are 80% participation on all teaching, accepted assignments and accepted project.
