BB102X Degree Project in Engineering and Management, First Level 15.0 credits
Examensarbete inom teknik och management, grundnivå
The course gives the students the opportunity to apply their knowledge and practice engineering approach to develop biotech products/prototypes. Students get the opportunity to solve reality-based problems by appointing appropriate routes for the manufacturing of a product/prototype. Work is performed independently by planning, exploring, acquiring knowledge, defining technical problems, judging the possibilities of solving them, and communicating the results. Students are also given the opportunity to focus more thoroughly on a specific step in the product/prototype development.

Learning outcomes
After completion of the Degree Project the student should be able to:
- Apply knowledge and skills acquired during the studies on issues in biotechnology
- Formulate and attack a technical problem by applying the relevant methodology
- Identify the need for further knowledge and continually develop the skills through advanced studies in a specific field
- Within the project framework, be able to independently analyse the raced issues and reflect on, evaluate and critically examine their own and others' results
- Continuously documenting a work process
- In a professional way present the work in writing and orally for a specific audience, calling for the structure, content, citation and referencing
- Using basic concepts and tools for an active career start
- Design a CV and a letter of application and be able to present themselves at job interviews
- To explain the basics of technology-based entrepreneurship
Course main content
Most of the course is tied to a project task to be planned, performed, and presented as interim and final reports according to a given curriculum. The task is formulated around the development of a production process for a specific product/prototype. The project involves a part focusing on a specific task. In support of the project work modules are included that develop professional communication, entrepreneurship and basic career planning.
