Course contents

Basic object orientation. Syntax for and programming in Java.

Intended learning outcomes

After the course you will have learned to

*  follow the rules in the programming language Java's syntax

*  account for basic object-oriented concepts in Java

*  design small Java programs

in order to be able to

*  read advanced courses in computer science that require knowledge in Java.

Literature and preparations

Specific prerequisites

For single course students, 90 credits are required including 45 credits within mathematics or informatics. Furthermore is required Swedish B and English B or equivalent.

Students who have taken a programming course in Java can not take this course

Recommended prerequisites

Python programming skills from a course in programming technique (DD1310, DD1311, DD1312, DD1314, DD100N) or DD1343 Computer Science and numerical methods part 1, or equivalent.

Fromn 2018, the course will be replaced by DD1380.

The course can not be combined with DD1332, DD1337, DD1339, DD1340, DD1341, DD1342, DD1346 or DD1380.

The course be given in 4 course occasions per academic year; the course occasions in period 2 and 4 with lower level of service and the course occasions in period 1 and 3 with higher level of service. Higher level of service implies that an initial lecture is held and that the students may receive fast answers to questions per e-mail. Lower level of service implies pure self-study and that the answers to questions by e-mail can wait up to 2 weeks.
