DD3318 Stokastiska reaktions-diffusions system (3-6 hp)

To understand the dynamics of receptor induced intracellular signaling pathways one needs to take into account of both biochemical reactions and diffusion of molecules. Computational modeling is an approach for investigating the dynamics of such phenomena. It is, however computationally demanding to simulate large systems and thus efficient algorithms are needed. In this course we will go through the basic theory of modeling stochastic reaction-diffusion systems. This is followed by an overview of the approaches used to speed up such simulations. Finally, we will get hands-on experience in using one or two existing simulator tools.
