After completing the course, the student should be able to:

Listening comprehension

  • understand and report facts in an oral presentation on familiar subjects (level A2)

Reading comprehension

  • understand and give an account of information from various elementary (level A2)
  • identify facts from simple authentic texts (level A2)

Speaking

  • use the language with correct application of basic Swedish grammar and a basic command of the typical and distinctive features of Swedish pronunciation and prosody, in simple everyday situations and short presentations, and also describe elementary aspects of Swedish life and institutions (level A1)

Writing

  • use the language with correct application of basic Swedish grammar and a basic command of the typical and distinctive features of Swedish spelling in everyday situations, and also describe elementary aspects of Swedish life and institutions (level A1).

Course main content

Elementary Swedish grammar. Pronunciation practice, practice in understanding, writing short essays, speaking and reading simple texts. Short presentations. An introduction to Swedish life and institutions.

Eligibility

General entrance requirements for university studies. Applicants should have no preknowledge of Swedish.
