Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- identify certain differences in style between everyday and formal Swedish and adapt his/her written and spoken language accordingly. (level C1)
Listening comprehension
- understand conversations and oral presentations, including those in more formal and advanced language (level B2/C1)
- follow an argumentation in specialised language provided that the topic is more or less familiar (level B2/C1)
Reading comprehension
- understand and describe the content of authentic texts from various areas, such as society and science, and also more specialised texts from familiar fields (level C1)
Speaking
- take active part in discussions and be able to explain and defend his/her opinions on well-known topics. (level B2)
- using varied and appropriate language, give an individually prepared, easily understood oral presentation on a topic connected to studies, society or science, displaying a good command of the typical and distinctive features of Swedish pronunciation and prosody and correct use of Swedish morphology and sentence structure (level B2/C1)
Writing
- Write analytical, expository essays and argumentations on topics related to studies, society and science with correct use of Swedish morphology and sentence structure in more complex and specific situations (level B2/C1).

Eligibility
General entrance requirements for university studies. A pass in Swedish 3, intermediate level, DS1520, DS1521, DS1522, DS1523, DS1524, DS1525, DS1526, DS1527 or equivalent and a compulsory placement test before applying. See our website for the test and more information.
