HM2000 Legislation Issues in Logistics 7.5 credits

• The rights and the administrations of justice: The character of the legal system. The different sources of rights. The judiciary and arbitration.
• Raising and judging of contracts in relation to the trade agreement – NSAB 2000.
• The legal aspects of contract is dealt with on a domestic and international point of view including terms of delivery (Incoterms 2000), breach of contract, cash on delivery, cash against documents, letter of credit, and general average.
• Law of damages and law of torts.
• Problems arising when there are more than two parties involved, Third-Party Providers.
• The different law of different transport – sea, railway, road, and aviation – and multi-modal transport and successive carriage is thoroughly examined.
• Cargo and liability insurance is carefully treated.
• The rules concerning which legal provision to be used in each case is dealt with.
• The logistics in the future – which are the problems.

After completing the course, the student should be able to:

• solve legal problems concerning Third-Party-Logistics and Cross-docking
• solve legal issues connected with electronic trade
• solve elementary legal problems within those areas
• decide when legal experts must be requested

• Master's or Bachelor's degree comprising at least 180 ECTS credits in mechanics or economics, or equivalent
• Swedish and English equivalent to Swedish B/ Swedish 3 and English A/English 6

If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.

• PRO1 - Project, 3.0 credits, grading scale: P, F
• TEN1 - Written examination, 4.5 credits, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.

• In any assessment, every student shall honestly disclose any help received and sources used.
• In an oral assessment, every student shall be able to present and answer questions about the entire assignment and solution.

The course is based upon half-time studies. The students are gathered 5 days + examination day. The language is Swedish.
