II1351 Selectable Specialisation 6.0 credits

The content in the course is given by the three issues, problem area, knowledge/skills to gain and proof/declaration of results. This serves as a contract between student and examiner. In this contract it must be specified what is needed in order to get specific grades.

The course work contains of:

• self studies of relevant literature and media
• seminars together with other students who serve under the same contract (a good method could be to split the knowledge area into minor parts and let different students learn their part and present the results for the rest)
• practical elaboration work
• prototype building
• proof and declaration of accomplished learning and results.

After fulfilled course shall the student have accomplished the following:

• a written definition of the knowledge scope that is targeted in this course
• formulated the learning outcome of this course and how assessment, in sense of grade, shall be carried out
• specify how gained knowledge shall be declared
• planned, proposed and got acknowledged (from examiner) a process for learning
• report gained knowledge
• report time consumption in different activities (total amount of spent time should approximately be 4 weeks, 160 hours).

Plenty experience as student in university courses. One should at least have participated in 5 to 10 courses with approved results.

Litteratur väljs efter valt problemområde/kunskapsområde. Vald litteratur skall godkännas av kursens examinator.

If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.

• PROA - Functioning prototype, 3.0 credits, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F
• RAPA - Written report, 1.5 credits, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F
• REDA - Public presentation, 1.5 credits, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.

The final grade could be an average grade of the parts or judged from a specific part. In the beginning of the course it should be declared by the examiner how the final grade will be set.

• All members of a group are responsible for the group's work.
• In any assessment, every student shall honestly disclose any help received and sources used.
• In an oral assessment, every student shall be able to present and answer questions about the entire assignment and solution.

No assessment in this matter is done.

The course is evaluated and developed according to the KTH policy for course analysis.

A written course "contract" between the student and examiner must be at hand in the beginning of the course in order to avoid misunderstandings.
