Media Management
The programme in Media Management focuses on the development and commercial operation of media products and services aimed at a consumer market, and therefore offers courses giving relevant knowledge regarding technology, content, production, distribution, market understanding, and enterprise management in the media industry and related areas.
The programme will provide a broad knowledge of the entire field, but also in-depth knowledge of specific subfields as well as an understanding of current research and development work within the field. The programme also includes advanced methodological knowledge.
Programme outline
The programme is multidisciplinary, combining media technology and computer science with economics, management and business development. It is aimed at students on a bachelor’s level wishing to acquire the knowledge and skills to manage and develop enterprises in the media industry or enterprises using media communication in their business activities. It will also give a background for research education in this field.

Students that have been admitted with a Bachelor's degree in social science are required to take the course DD2325 Applied programming and computer science, 7,5 ECTS.
Degree project
The final semester is devoted to the Degree Project, which is focused on the solving, using scientific methodology, of a problem within the scope of the programme. The project may originate from an industrial problem or be suggested by one of the research groups at the involved departments. The results are presented in a report – the Degree project – and in a formal thesis defense seminar.
Career prospects
Previous students within the field of media management are to date in considerable demand on the job market. Alumni have come to occupy a wide variety of positions within the media and marketing industries. Examples include publishing, television and interactive media firms. There are also a number of former students that have embarked upon a career within consulting in firms such as McKinsey and Accenture. There is an alumni function that keeps track of former students and graduates are encouraged to update their information. The alumni function provides graduates with an opportunity to keep track of their former classmates and build an extensive network.
Co-operation with State University Higher School of Economics, Moscow
A cooperation with Higher School of Economics in Moscow, Russia, was started in 2008 with the aim to establish student and lecturer exchange, common seminars and double diploma with their Media Management programme.
