Drawing by Juliette Contat

This exhibition presents work from the Advanced Level Studio 7 at the KTH School of Architecture, autumn 2015. The focus is on alterations and negotiations – on a particular kind of thoughtfulness and insight that is fundamental to architecture. This kind of intelligence finds its expression in the modification of pre-existing structures and spaces. Studio 7 has an interest in buildings and places that are open-ended. Works like this may be newly built, or they may have a long – even ancient – history. In either case they have a quality of “perfection within imperfection” that makes them receptive to adaptation and change. Studio 7 analysed two different examples of such “receptive” architecture: medieval churches in Uppland and historically diverse urban quarters in Stockholm. After analysis in model and drawing, further alterations and negotiations were proposed.

Studio 7 is taught by Elizabeth Hatz and Peter Lynch

Sunday January 24 at 1 pm there will be a final presentation and celebration of the exhibition – you can sign up for the event on the KTH-A facebook page .
