Stories and Seeds film forums: One Table Two Elephants
Tid: Ti 2018-02-13 kl 18.00
Plats: KTH Biblioteket Osquars backe 31, 114 28 Stockholm
The upcoming session of the Stories and Seeds film-forums will be a work-in-progress screening of “One Table Two Elephants” (von Heland and Ernstson 2018, 84 min) with world premiere at a festival later in the spring. This is a very special event, as it will be chaired by one of its creators: Jacob von Heland. Jacob, who obtained his PhD at the Stockholm Resilience Center in 2011, is currently a researcher, filmmaker and writer at our KTH Environmental Humanities Laboratory. His research interests include visual environmental humanities, “beyond text” epistemologies, situated ecologies and decoloniality among others.
The film “One Table Two Elephants” (2018), created by Jacob von Heland and Henrik Ernstson and filmed in Cape Town is a ciné-ethnography that explores the politics of urban environmental knowledge in postcolonial cities. The film takes an interest in how different groups create knowledge about urban nature, thereby shaping the future of the city, its ecology, and its meaning to the people of the city.
Admission is free, and a refreshment will be served to the attendees after the event.
The event is co-organized by the KTH Environmental Humanities Laboratory and Arena Idé. Stories and Seeds is a project funded by the KTH Sustainability Office.
