Title: Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy for Medical Applications
The electrical impedance of biological tissues (bio-impedance) is closely related to a large variety of physiological conditions. Accordingly, it can be used as a tool for diagnosing and monitoring in many medical applications. The first part of this lecture briefly introduces the field of bio-impedance measurements, applications, and current research trends. The second part of the lecture shows two examples of Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) systems for medical applications developed at KTH. The first example includes a System-on-Chip (SoC) that targets the detection of melanoma skin cancer. The second example is a miniaturized battery-less implantable impedance analyzer that targets bio-impedance measurements of internal tissues.
