Vilket n\u00f6je att f\u00e5 inleda ITM:s bloggande i \u00e5r.<\/p>\n<p>KTH:s omst\u00e4llning mot decentralisering och \u00f6kad fakultetsp\u00e5verkan har resulterat i ett nytt s\u00e4tt att administrera rekrytering, befordran och docentanst\u00e4llningar. Fr\u00e5n och med denna m\u00e5nad ligger ansvaret nu hos <a href=\"https:\/\/intra.kth.se\/itm\/organisation\/fakultetsnamnd-itm\">ITM:s fakultetsn\u00e4mnd<\/a> (FN) f\u00f6r att hantera de flesta av dessa \u00e4renden. FN har i sin tur inr\u00e4ttat ett <a href=\"https:\/\/intra.kth.se\/itm\/organisation\/fakultetsnamnd-itm\/anstallningsutskott-itm-1.1370392\">anst\u00e4llningsutskott<\/a> (AU, med mig som ordf\u00f6rande) och ett <a href=\"https:\/\/intra.kth.se\/itm\/organisation\/fakultetsnamnd-itm\/docentutskott-itm-1.1370451\">docentutskott<\/a> (DU, med Kristina Andersson som ordf\u00f6rande) som st\u00f6d. Kort sagt har FN direkt ansvar f\u00f6r strategiska beslut, s\u00e5som att godk\u00e4nna rekryteringar av nya tenure track-fakulteter, medan AU och DU hanterar de praktiska aspekterna. F\u00f6rv\u00e4ntningen \u00e4r att f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttra kvaliteten genom att f\u00f6ra beslutsfattandet n\u00e4rmare skolan och institutionerna.<\/p>\n<p>En annan f\u00f6rdel \u00e4r att f\u00f6rkorta ledtiderna f\u00f6r de m\u00e5nga stegen i rekryteringsprocessen (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kth.se\/blogs\/itm-management\/2022\/11\/faculty-recruiting-yes-it-takes-time\/\">se blogginl\u00e4gg fr\u00e5n 2022<\/a>). Ett exempel g\u00e4ller utn\u00e4mningen av externa experter. I det tidigare systemet kunde detta steg ta upp till en m\u00e5nad; nu kan experter utses p\u00e5 bara n\u00e5gra dagar. FFA* kommer att tr\u00e4ffas regelbundet f\u00f6r att utbyta erfarenheter och b\u00e4sta praxis \u00f6ver hela KTH, och s\u00e5dana m\u00f6ten b\u00f6r s\u00e4kerst\u00e4lla att \u00e4renden hanteras enhetligt.<\/p>\n<p>Samma \u00e4mne var i fokus under ITM:s \u00e5rliga ledningsinternat den 9\u201310 januari, och jag kommer att tr\u00e4ffa FN under den f\u00f6ljande veckan f\u00f6r vidare diskussioner. Jag ser fram emot att arbeta tillsammans med ledning och fakultetsledning f\u00f6r att implementera dessa nya processer. Detta arbete leds av KTH:s dekan och prodekan och \u00e4r nu i en fas d\u00e4r kommentarer samlas in. Tv\u00e5 remissvar ska l\u00e4mnas in av ITM i slutet av februari: ett fr\u00e5n ITM:s ledningsgrupp och ett annat fr\u00e5n FN. Jag uppmuntrar er att g\u00f6ra er r\u00f6st h\u00f6rd genom att l\u00e4mna synpunkter till er chef eller prefekt. A pleasure to kick off ITM\u2019s blogs for the new year.<\/p>\n<p>KTH\u2019s realignment towards decentralization and increased faculty influence has resulted in a new way in which recruitment, promotions, and docentships are administered. Starting this month responsibility now rests with the <a href=\"https:\/\/intra.kth.se\/en\/itm\/organisation\/fakultetsnamnd-itm\/fakultetsnamnd-itm-1.1306763\">ITM Faculty Board<\/a> (FN) for handling most of these cases. FN in turn has established an <a href=\"https:\/\/intra.kth.se\/en\/itm\/organisation\/fakultetsnamnd-itm\/anstallningsutskott-itm-1.1370392\">recruitment committee<\/a> (AU, chaired by me) and <a href=\"https:\/\/intra.kth.se\/en\/itm\/organisation\/fakultetsnamnd-itm\/docentutskott-itm-1.1370451\">docent committee<\/a> (DU, chaired by Kristina Andersson) as support. In short, FN has direct responsibility for strategic decisions such as approving the recruitment of new tenure-track faculty, with practicalities handled by AU and DU. The expectation is to enhance quality by bringing decision-making closer to the school and departments.<\/p>\n<p>Another advantage concerns shortening lead-times in handling the many steps involved in recruiting (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kth.se\/blogs\/itm-management\/2022\/11\/faculty-recruiting-yes-it-takes-time\/\">see blog post from 2022<\/a>). One example has to do with appointing external experts. In the former system this step could take up to one month; now experts can be appointed in a matter of days. FFA\u2019s* will meet regularly to exchange experiences and best practices across KTH, and such meetings should ensure that cases are handled uniformly.<\/p>\n<p>This topic was in focus for ITM\u2019s yearly leadership retreat that took place on 9-10 January, and I will meet FN during the following week for further discussions. I look forward to working with management and faculty leadership in implementing these new processes. This work is led by KTH\u2019s dean and vice dean and is now in a comment-gathering phase. Two reports of findings are to be delivered by ITM by the end of February: one from ITM\u2019s management group, and another from FN. I encourage you to make your voice heard by forwarding input to your manager or department head.
