Efter mer \u00e4n 36 \u00e5r p\u00e5 KTH g\u00e5r Christina Carlsson i pension.<\/p>\n<p>Det g\u00e5r inte i en kort blogg att beskriva allt gott hon har gjort f\u00f6r KTH. N\u00e4r KTH:s d\u00e5varande rektor Anders Flodstr\u00f6m ville reformera KTH genom att omvandla 32 institutioner till 9 skolor, s\u00e5 var det Christina som tillsammans med den f\u00f6rsta skolchefen Bengt Lindberg b\u00f6rjade bygga ITM-skolan. Hon ins\u00e5g tidigt att en v\u00e4l fungerande administration m\u00e5ste bygga p\u00e5 v\u00e4l definierade processer och inte enbart enskilda individer.<\/p>\n<p>Fr\u00e5n b\u00f6rjan var det protester n\u00e4r det administrativa st\u00f6det centraliserades, men efter ett tag b\u00f6rjade de inblandade att se f\u00f6rdelarna med att ha kollegor man kan samverka med, och fakulteten s\u00e5g att st\u00f6det blev mer professionellt. Christina fortsatte sedan att utveckla ITM-skolan under Jan Wikanders och min ledning.<\/p>\n<p>Christina har under alla dessa \u00e5r satt sin personal i fokus genom att ordna seminarier och internat f\u00f6r att utveckla var och ens kompetens, och utveckla st\u00f6det till fakulteten. Det \u00e4r med stolthet som jag, och m\u00e5nga med mig, kan s\u00e4ga att det \u00e4r en mycket stor f\u00f6rm\u00e5n att f\u00e5 ha arbetat med en s\u00e5 ytterst kompetent ledare och enormt trevlig arbetskamrat som Christina Carlsson!<\/p>\n<p>Med det sagt, t\u00e4nker jag forts\u00e4tta p\u00e5 temat ledare. Som ledare m\u00e5ste du bidra till att kontinuerligt utveckla verksamheten f\u00f6r att kunna m\u00f6ta det omgivande samh\u00e4llets behov. Detta \u00e4r naturligtvis inte l\u00e4tt, eftersom ingen av oss sitter inne med en sp\u00e5kula som g\u00f6r att vi exakt vet vad som h\u00e4nder bakom n\u00e4sta kurva. D\u00e4rf\u00f6r \u00e4r det viktigt att vi satsar p\u00e5 f\u00f6r\u00e4ndringsledning och att vi hittar m\u00e4nniskor i v\u00e5r organisation som aktivt vill bidra till att skapa f\u00f6r\u00e4ndringar.<\/p>\n<p>Vi har d\u00e4rf\u00f6r nyligen p\u00e5b\u00f6rjat en kurs i inkluderande ledarskap f\u00f6r social h\u00e5llbarhet f\u00f6r programansvariga under ledning av Anders Warpman och Solveig Warpman. Baserat p\u00e5 denna utbildning f\u00f6rv\u00e4ntas de programansvariga ta fram en tydlig struktur f\u00f6r hur JML kan integreras i respektive program. Kursen har gett kunskap om f\u00f6r\u00e4ndringsledning som kan anv\u00e4ndas f\u00f6r att anpassa utbildningen till samh\u00e4llets behov, tex hur man inkluderar aspekter som h\u00e5llbarhet och anv\u00e4ndning av AI i utbildningen.<\/p>\n<p>Ett exempel p\u00e5 hur vi kan hitta m\u00e4nniskor i v\u00e5r organisation som \u00e4r intresserade av framtida ledaruppdrag \u00e4r ITM-skolans satsning p\u00e5 \u201dLedarskapsprogram f\u00f6r framtidens ledare\u201d under ledning av Magnus \u00c5kesson. Specifikt \u00e4r syftet att v\u00e4cka intresse f\u00f6r ledarskap och att rusta medarbetare inf\u00f6r kommande chefs- och ledarroller med f\u00f6rst\u00e5else, kunskap och verktyg. Dessutom \u00e4r det \u00f6vergripande och l\u00e5ngsiktiga syftet med programmet att utveckla ett ledarskap och en kultur p\u00e5 ITM som m\u00f6jligg\u00f6r utbildning och forskning av h\u00f6gsta kvalitet, god samverkan med externa akt\u00f6rer och ett tryggt, robust och produktivt samarbetsklimat. Som vi kan l\u00e4sa om i en tidigare blogg s\u00e5 examinerades den f\u00f6rsta gruppen best\u00e5ende av 14 personer i juni 2024. Utv\u00e4rderingen av denna f\u00f6rsta utbildning med b\u00e5de deltagare och chefer var mycket positiv, s\u00e5 ITM:s ledningsgrupp besl\u00f6t att starta en omg\u00e5ng till med start i april 2025. I denna omg\u00e5ng deltar 11 personer.<\/p>\n<p>P\u00e5 min fritid har jag \u00e4ntligen b\u00f6rjat arbeta i tr\u00e4dg\u00e5rden efter denna l\u00e5nga vinter. Det var ett n\u00f6je att klippa \u00e4ppeltr\u00e4den i den v\u00e4rmande solen i helgen. Jag s\u00e5g detta som starten p\u00e5 m\u00e5nga h\u00e4rliga dagar i tr\u00e4dg\u00e5rden denna v\u00e5r.<\/p>\n<p>\/P\u00e4r J\u00f6nsson,\u00a0Skolchef ITM<\/p>\n<h2>Leaders come and go, but culture endures<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kth.se\/blogs\/itm-management\/files\/2020\/11\/Christina-Carlsson-2020-09_1_270-170px.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-757\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kth.se\/blogs\/itm-management\/files\/2020\/11\/Christina-Carlsson-2020-09_1_270-170px.png\" alt=\"Portrait Christina Carlsson\" width=\"300\" height=\"189\" \/><\/a>Dear Colleagues,<\/p>\n<p>I must admit that writing this blog feels difficult, as it is also a farewell to a highly valued and dedicated colleague. After more than 36 years at KTH, Christina Carlsson is retiring.<\/p>\n<p>It is impossible to describe all the good she has done for KTH in a short blog. When KTH\u2019s then-president, Anders Flodstr\u00f6m, sought to reform KTH by transforming 32 departments into nine schools, it was Christina who, together with the first head of school, Bengt Lindberg, began building the ITM School. She realised early on that an efficient administration must be based on well-defined processes rather than solely on individual efforts. Initially, there were protests when administrative support was centralised, but after some time, those involved began to see the advantages of having colleagues to collaborate with, and the faculty recognised that the support became more professional. Christina continued to develop the ITM School under the leadership of Jan Wikander and myself. Throughout these years, she has always prioritised her staff, organising seminars and retreats to enhance their skills and improve support for the faculty. It is with great pride that I, along with many others, can say it has been a tremendous privilege to work with such an exceptionally competent leader and a wonderful colleague as Christina Carlsson!<\/p>\n<p>When discussing leadership, we must remember that leaders must continuously contribute to the development of operations in order to meet the needs of the surrounding society. This is, of course, no easy task, as none of us possesses a crystal ball to foresee exactly what lies ahead. Therefore, it is crucial that we invest in change management and identify individuals within our organisation who actively wish to drive change.<\/p>\n<p>One example of ongoing change management efforts is a newly launched course on inclusive leadership for social sustainability, designed for programme directors under the guidance of Anders Warpman and Solveig Warpman. Based on this training, the programme directors are expected to establish a clear structure for integrating JML into their respective programmes. The course has provided insights into change management that the programme directors can utilise to adapt education to societal needs, for example, by incorporating aspects such as sustainability and the use of AI in education.<\/p>\n<p>Another example of how we can identify individuals within our organisation who are interested in future leadership roles is the ITM School\u2019s initiative, \u201cLeadership Programme for Future Leaders,\u201d led by Magnus \u00c5kesson. The specific aim is to spark interest in leadership and prepare employees for future managerial and leadership roles by providing understanding, knowledge, and tools. Moreover, the overall and long-term objective of the programme is to cultivate leadership and a culture at ITM that facilitates high-quality education and research, strong collaboration with external stakeholders, and a safe, resilient, and productive working environment. As noted in a previous blog, the first cohort of 14 participants graduated in June 2024. The evaluation of this initial training, conducted with both participants and managers, was highly positive, leading the ITM management team to approve a second round starting in April 2025, with 11 participants enrolled.<\/p>\n<p>In my free time, I have finally started working in the garden after this long winter. It was a pleasure to prune the apple trees in the warming sunshine over the weekend.
