Hur g\u00e5r det d\u00e5?<\/p>\n<p>\u00c5r 2025 var ett lugnt \u00e5r n\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller rekryteringar inom tenure track, med endast ett f\u00e5tal \u00e4renden som behandlades av FN. Jag tolkar detta som en cyklisk nedg\u00e5ng i kombination med os\u00e4kerhet kring fakultetsfinansieringen. Samtidigt har aktiviteten nu \u00f6kat igen, och ITM har dessutom ett par professorsrekryteringar p\u00e5 g\u00e5ng.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c4ven om antalet \u00e4renden var begr\u00e4nsat under 2025 har rekryteringsprocesserna diskuterats flitigt. P\u00e5 ITM-niv\u00e5 har b\u00e5de ledningsgruppen, FN och anst\u00e4llningsutskottet (AU) st\u00e4llt kritiska fr\u00e5gor kring processerna, inte minst med tanke p\u00e5 att det ofta tar m\u00e5nga m\u00e5nader att initiera och slutf\u00f6ra en rekrytering. Tillsammans med andra fakultetsf\u00f6rnyelseansvariga (FFA) har jag \u00e4ven lyft flera av dessa fr\u00e5gor med prodekanus.<\/p>\n<p>Ett exempel g\u00e4ller hur best\u00e4mmelser i h\u00f6gskolef\u00f6rordningen till\u00e4mpas, s\u00e4rskilt n\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller sakkunniggranskning. KTH har tolkat regelverket som att s\u00e5dana utl\u00e5tanden ska inh\u00e4mtas f\u00f6r samtliga s\u00f6kande. Detta kan vara problematiskt eftersom arbetsbelastningen f\u00f6r sakkunniga ofta \u00e4r h\u00f6g \u2013 ibland finns 60 eller fler s\u00f6kande till en och samma tj\u00e4nst. F\u00f6ljden blir att potentiella sakkunniga allt oftare tackar nej.<\/p>\n<p>P\u00e5 initiativ av en FFA-kollega har vi p\u00e5 ITM d\u00e4rf\u00f6r analyserat m\u00f6jliga arbetss\u00e4tt d\u00e4r en intern gallring g\u00f6rs innan \u00e4renden skickas vidare till extern sakkunniggranskning. M\u00e5nga tenure-track-tj\u00e4nster kr\u00e4ver exempelvis doktorsexamen. \u00c4r det d\u00e5 rimligt att be en extern sakkunnig bed\u00f6ma en s\u00f6kande som saknar denna grundl\u00e4ggande kvalifikation? Liknande kriterier kan naturligtvis \u00f6verv\u00e4gas, men hur l\u00e5ngt KTH b\u00f6r g\u00e5 kr\u00e4ver noggranna avv\u00e4gningar f\u00f6r att v\u00e4rna processens integritet. Jag har blivit alltmer f\u00f6rtjust i workshopformatet \u2013 det \u00e4r ett effektivt s\u00e4tt att samla olika perspektiv kring ett konkret problem och arbeta fram l\u00f6sningar tillsammans. Det p\u00e5minner mig ocks\u00e5 om att jag inte \u00e4r ensam i att f\u00f6rs\u00f6ka hitta v\u00e4gar fram\u00e5t.<\/p>\n<p>\/Andrew Martin, ansvarig f\u00f6r l\u00e4rarf\u00f6rs\u00f6rjning (FFA) vid ITM-skolan<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"editor-h2\">Faculty recruitments \u2013 reflections on 2025 and current status<\/h2>\n<p>Those of you following my blogs recall that the ITM faculty board (FN) now has the authority to approve departmental requests for recruiting tenure-track faculty and lecturers. So, how are things going?<\/p>\n<p>2025 was a quiet year in terms of tenure-track recruitments, with only a handful of cases taken up by FN. I interpret this as a cyclical downturn coupled to uncertainties in faculty funding. However there has been an uptick and ITM even has a couple of professor recruitments underway.<\/p>\n<p>Even if the number of cases was low for 2025, there has been considerable discussion on the various recruitment processes. At the ITM level, the management group, FN, and recruitment committee (AU, anst\u00e4llningsutskott) have asked critical questions about these processes owing to the many months required for initiating and completing a recruitment. In addition, my fellow FFA have raised some of these concerns with the vice dean of faculty.<\/p>\n<p>The application of regulations from the Higher Educational Ordinance in terms of external expert evaluations is a case in point. KTH has applied this specific regulation to mean that such evaluations are to be done for applicants. This can be troublesome since the workload on experts can be high; we sometimes see 60 or more applicants for a given position. As a result, potential experts are more often declining invitations.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to an initiative from a fellow FFA, we at ITM have taken the ball and examined scenarios involving an internal screening prior to expert evaluation. For example, most tenure-track positions require a PhD. Is it necessary to ask an external expert to review an application from a candidate who lacks such qualifications? The list can be supplemented by other qualifications, and how far KTH is willing to go requires careful consideration in order to preserve integrity in the process.
