{"id":51,"date":"2024-08-19T12:38:44","date_gmt":"2024-08-19T12:38:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/intra.kth.se\/blogs\/sandra-di-rocco\/?p=51"},"modified":"2025-05-06T16:46:30","modified_gmt":"2025-05-06T14:46:30","slug":"welcome-back-to-a-new-academic-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kth.se\/blogs\/sandra-di-rocco\/2024\/08\/welcome-back-to-a-new-academic-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome back to a new academic year"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"post-content-wrapper\"><p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;color: black\">As we begin the new academic year at KTH, I\u2019m pleased to welcome everyone back.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;color: black\">After the summer break, it\u2019s refreshing to see our community come together again, ready to engage\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;color: black\">with the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;color: black\">This year, we are particularly excited to welcome 513 new undergraduate students who are beginning their studies <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;color: black\">in our four engineering programs (155 in Engineering Physics, 147 in Open Entrance, 131 in Vehicle Engineering\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;color: black\">and 80 in Engineering Mathematics). \u00a0Their arrival brings fresh energy to our campus, and we look forward to the <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;color: black\">contributions they will make as they embark on their academic journey with us.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;color: black\">I would also like to extend a warm welcome to our new staff members and Ph.D. students. We are eager to see\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;color: black\">the new ideas and insights you will bring to our ongoing research and educational initiatives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;color: black\">As we move into the 2024-2025 academic year, I encourage all of us to continue fostering an environment of collaboration,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;color: black\">innovation, and excellence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;color: black\">This coming year will also offer us the opportunity to shape further reforms at KTH. The School Faculty Board will broaden\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;color: black\">its scope to include recruitment processes, and a report on the &#8220;career system at KTH&#8221; will soon be available for discussion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;color: black\">At the school level, departments will soon deliver a report on our master\u2019s and Ph.D. programs, which will be discussed to\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;color: black\">prepare an action plan.
