How do you feel if you know that everyone around you is willing to help once you ask for help? No reservations right? Exactly!
This week someone asked me how long I have been in Stockholm and to my amazement, my answer was just a little over three months! I feel like I have been living here for over a year!(Haha!) This feeling of familiarity can be attributed to the quality of people I have met in my journey so far.
Help is not on the way; help is right beside you.
Let’s paint a scenario: you have an assignment in which the first question is divided into four sections and you get stuck on the first section of the first question (lol); after trying your best, you resolve to ask another person to guide you through the first steps. To your amazement, this person leads you to become an expert on the topic as opposed to just introducing the topic (awesome right?)
The scenario above paints my three months experience. Looking back, I see how asking questions have really helped me because I can tell you with lined-up experiences that the people are always willing to help!! The answers to these questions keep shining light on the tunnel and right now, this tunnel is bursting with colourful lights and these lights create music which I dance through effortlessly.
As an international student at Stockholm, it is expected not to know how everything works. However, do not fret; I can confidently tell you that just by talking to people around you, you can find information to more things than you expect. The key always is TO ASK QUESTIONS.
This life hack is all you need as I can tell you there are so many people willing to go the extra mile to ensure you get the right answers to your questions. For me, from my academics to accommodation to shopping tips to commuting round Stockholm to health care to banking to the gym to the Swedish language! the list is endless! (Haha!)
To all those, I have asked questions, thank you for going the extra mile as I can now help others with my experiences so far. Also, to prospective students, do not be afraid to take that leap of faith like me, you would find yourself dancing through effortlessly as help is all around you. just ask!:)
Let’s end the post with this quote:
Do not be afraid to ask questions. Do not be afraid to ask for help when you need it. I do that everyday. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of strength. It shows you have the courage to admit when you don’t know something, and then allows you to learn something new

Hmmn… Ask questions.

I’m glad to hear this:)
