A sunny day hike @ Lida Naturreservat

The sun is back in all its glory in Stockholm and so are the hiking boots. Last weekend we went on a 20km hiking trail through the Lida naturreservat. Lida is an urban forest meant for adventurous souls. The terrain is a treat to people interesting in the flora. Along the trail, we saw the terrain changing from steep mountainous to flat gravel roads.

Lida naturreservat is around 30 minutes from the city centralen and a single pendaltag (metros) ride away. We gathered together with the group of other hikers. Since the trekking level was easy it was a day meant for fun and adventure. The trek started on gravel roads through small villages in the beginning and later led towards the forest. The tranquillity was much needed after a busy summer month. We encountered as mountains and walked along the edge of the Getaran lake experiencing good views all through.

Much needed tranquility!

Lida naturreservat also has a beautiful little beach where we stopped for lunch and of course for a swim after a deserving hike. The refreshing water coupled with the warm sun was a satisfying experience.

A refreshing swim at Lida naturreservat

Stockholm is a city filled with nature hikes. There are a number of hiking groups who organise the hikes for free. It is a great place to meet new people and explore the city.
