It is necessary in these times to know how to tackle health issues and Sweden has a reasonably good system in place to tackle COVID-related implications. There are resources available online on 1177.se and most of them are in Swedish and some in English. In this blog, I talk about how to get yourself tested if you feel that you have symptoms. It is of utmost importance in the current situation to take precautions to not spread the pandemic further. And if the symptoms are serious, it is recommended that you call 1177.
If you have been in contact with a person affected by COVID and/or feel that you have symptoms, it is recommended to immediately get yourself tested. COVID PCR testing is free in Sweden. There are different modes of testing which is offered:
1. Home test which is more apt for students where the testing kit is delivered to your place of residence and the samples are collected.
2. Drive-in test where you take your car to the testing center and the test is conducted.
Step 2: Installing the app – Alltid Oppet
Alltid Oppet is available on all the app stores and needs to be downloaded to order covid testing. The app requires you to login using your Swedish phone number and bank id since the personnel delivering the testing kit will be calling you to collect the kit.
The app offers the choice of both Swedish and English.
Step 3: Booking the test
a) The first step here is to choose the option of “Sampling of Covid 19 testing” which is marked in red.
b) Choose the option in english which says Testing adults for Covid 19
c) Then choose the right medical assessment as shown in the application. Since it is already in English and varies between individuals I am going to skip writing about it here.
d) After entering your medical assessment you will be given an order code. Make sure you note it down. Clicking on the Next button will take you to the 1177 website where you order your kits.
Step 4: Ordering test kits on 1177
You will end up on the 1177.se website that will need a bankid login. Once you have logged into the portal, you can choose the test of your choice.
There is a note on the home test that it is “not orderable” currently. This is because there are a certain number of kits that are provided every day. You might have to wait for a day and order it.
It is our responsibility to be cautious and prevent the further spread of the pandemic. You can stay updated on the situation and the KTH measurements on the KTH Website.
