Newly admitted at KTH? What to do in May?

It is a month since the admission results were announced. The air would be mixed with excitement and anxiety. I hope you did get to talk to the senior students of your master programme during the call-up week in the last month and it must have given you a sneak peek of the programme and life in Stockholm. You might have also attended the three webinars on KTH accommodation, New at KTH and also about the admission results. If you could not attend the webinars you can still watch them here.

May is the month where you start preparing for your arrival at KTH which would continue through June and July. In this blog post, you can find information about the most important activities to be done in May that will help with your preparation.

Start Applying for Accommodations

KTH guarantees accommodation for tuition fee-paying or scholarship students outside the EU. The application for accommodation has opened on 01 May 2021. You can register yourself and choose your preference of accommodation here in the link. This should be a high priority activity if you are looking for KTH student accommodations.

Join the SSSB queue (Insider’s tip)

SSSB is a public student housing foundation and has wider (and cheaper) options of accommodation for students. I would recommend that you register on the SSSB website this month since you can then start accumulating credit days. The more credit days you have, the more the chances of getting accommodation at SSSB housing (as I said are more affordable).

Be part of the Digital Events

The digital events are organised for new students where you can get valuable information about various topics that prepare you for your arrival at KTH. This month three webinars are planned for you: Information for non-fee-paying students, Being a female student at KTH, Sustainability at KTH. Interested students can register for the webinars here and also submit their questions before the start of the webinar.

There is also chat support for admitted students from various school on 03 & 10 May 2021. You can find more details here.

Payment of Tuition Fees

Admitted students who are required to pay the tuition fees to confirm their admission is done in May. You would have received an invoice on 13 April 2021. The due date for the payment of the tuition fees is 31 May 2021. The non-payment of the tuition fees might result in the student losing the seat for the programme.

Initiate Application for Resident Permit

Students outside the EU need to start applying for the resident permit. May is the right time to initiate the application so that you will receive the decision before the arrival days (02 and 22 August 2021).

I hope this blog would prove to be useful to you. I would also write similar blog posts about what should be done in June and July on the first week of the respective month. So do follow the blogs regularly.
