The best sitting-out areas on campus

Hej, it’s Raygo again! As the exam period is almost over, I think it is high time to summarise my observations over the first half of the semester and my personal preferences for the most popular sitting-out area on campus for students at KTH. Maybe you will find one of them as your favourite spot in the future!

1. Main Library

Conveniently located at the heart of the KTH campus, the main library has always been one of the students’ top choices. With loads of printed and online resources available, ranging from books, articles and journals, the main library serves as an ideal sitting-out area when it comes to a place for self-study and group academic discussion. Moreover, you can always find the location that suits your purpose the most. For instance, when you prefer studying alone, you may proceed to either of the two wings for your place with a desk. Or on the contrary, you are always welcome to approach the central courtyard, which is less quiet but with a more dynamic vibe.

2. Fika.KTH

As its name suggests, it is where it is for: fika! Sitting on Teknikringen 68A, I always enjoy having a Kanelbullar (Cinnamon Roll) with a coffee there during a cosy morning. I would regard it as one of the best sitting-out areas on campus, as a wide range of food options are offered. So whenever you are feeling hungry or in the mood for a fika break, that is where you may consider dropping by!

3. Borggården

Are you looking for a seating-out area with some fresh air? Then the Borggården will be on your list! As one of the most historical and iconic sites on campus, the garden is the place you would always find pleasing whenever you have lunch, read a book or hang out with friends.

Bonus: The rooftop of the KTH architecture building

I have to say I have a bias here, but this has to be on my list too! Capturing the mesmerizing view of Stockholm from there, it is somewhere you would like to sit out if the scenery is a huge concern for you. But always look for an architecture student to accompany your visit. Otherwise, you won’t get access there!
